Young Women of Influence Evening Series Presents..."Chic Ambition"

Time: 05:30 pm - 07:30 pm / Location: The Westin Calgary, 320 4th Ave SW, Calgary, Alberta
May 9, 2012

Young Women of Influence Evening Series Presents…
“Chic Ambition”

"Fashions fade, style is eternal." — Yves Saint-Laurent

JENNIFER WONG
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, ARITIZIA
WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 2012 • TIME: 5:30PM - 7:30PM
The Westin Calgary

From British Columbia to New York, Aritzia's Jennifer Wong is styled for success. Two key components of this fashion mecca have not changed since its humble beginnings tucked inside the Hill's of Kerrisdale department store in Vancouver: its distinctly Canadian vibe, and the involvement of Wong. At just 18 years old, Wong joined the Aritzia team as a part-time sales associate in 1987. Twenty-five years later she's now the Chief Operating Officer. Wong's impressive advancement can be attributed to a potent combination of commitment, ambition and an innate business acumen. Her integral involvement in Aritzia's growth includes overseeing its U.S. expansion and launching Aritzia's new e-commerce site, due later this year. One of the challenges Wong faces as a leader of a growing organization is her inability to draw on previous work experiences. While every new venture is also new to Wong, she sees this as motivation to think outside the box. Join us on May 9th to inspire the confidence to succeed in style.

Exclusive National Child Care Provider Kids & Co is offering complimentary child care at their nearest location during events so you can get inspired professionally!

The evening will be accompanied by complimentary wine & hors d’oeuvres, some great door prizes from our sponsors, and each guest will receive a gift bag!

The Uses of Enchantment

Time: All Day Event / Location: EPCOR CENTRE’s Ledge Gallery (+15 Centre Court)
May 9, 2012

Running until May 27th

By seeking to stimulate collective-memory through a short nostalgic narrative of the fairytale Jack and the Beanstalk, Calgary-based artist Erin Belanger showcases how a simplistic fable can operate on a deep level to reveal universal truths. Participants are encouraged to question what is truly of value to them by playfully bartering for some enchanted beans.

The Uses of Enchantment is a fun, interactive exhibition to remind people that magic does exist in the world. Through horticulture graffiti, Belanger investigates nostalgia, collections and the artificial as a means of access to collective-memory.
