Downtown Calgary is the mecca for performing arts in the City of Calgary
The performance groups located downtown can be found in the Cultural District, which is located in the blocks between 3 Street SE & 1 Street SW and 6 Avenue to 10 Avenue. The neighborhood is home to dozens of arts and culture hotspots like galleries, museums, theatres, concert halls and outdoor festival space. This vibrant area is filled with one of the highest concentrations of arts and culture venues in Canada — all within a few walkable blocks of the downtown core.
EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts (www.epcorcentre.org) — 1800-plus performances and events each year. Performances, live theatre, meetings, concerts and various activities occur in this multi-venue arts centre.

Theatre Junction - The GRAND - set in an historical site, offers contemporary theatre, dance, music and film.
Vertigo Mystery Theatre (www.vertigotheatre.com) — Housing two performing spaces, The Playhouse and The Studio, Vertigo Theatre produces a mystery series (Vertigo Mystery Theatre) and theatre-for-young-audience productions from across the country.
Lunchbox Theatre (www.lunchboxtheatre.com) Calgary's longest running lunchtime theatre, entertaining patrons over the lunch hour. A professional company introduces at least six plays per year as well at the Petro-Canada Stage One Festival.
Downtown is also your location for box office blockbuster films to indie films all within walking distance
Both Indie film venues can be found in the Film & Entertainment District, located around 8 Avenue at 5 Street SW. It is home to an eclectic mix of retro movie houses, restaurants, lounges, pubs and retails spots. Catch an indie flick at the Globe Theatre or the Uptown Stage & Screen. Take a trip around the world with an array of dining options from casual to upscale.
Globe Cinema — the Globe Cinema is located downtown on 8 Avenue SW between 5 and 6 Street SW
The Uptown Stage and Screen — this retro cinema is home to both mainstream and independent films, where movie buffs of all types can get their fill of the classic movie theatre experience.
Cineplex Odeon Eau Claire — located in the trendy Eau Claire Market with all the latest blockbuster movies showing on 6 screens
